Abel Resino Is Staying At Atletico Madrid - Enrique Cerezo

Atletico's president says he trusts the coach to turn things around...

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has insisted that Abel Resino will coach the club for the remainder of the season, despite a bad start to the campaign for Los Colchoneros.

Atleti began the season in fine style beating Panathinaikos 5-2 on aggregate to qualify for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League but since then have suffered a 3-0 defeat at Malaga, two draws against Racing Santander and APOEL respectively and most recently a 5-2 hammering at the hands of Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Despite this run of results Cerezo insists that Resino is the man for the job at the Vicente Calderon.

"Abel is the man we wanted and will be with us for the season," he told Marca adding that a poor run does not allow for "mistrust" of the coach.

Cerezo also said that the Rojiblancos need to start picking up points, starting at home on Wednesday night.

"On Wednesday we must win [against Almeria] and gradually return to the leadership positions," Cerezo added.
